Deeper Intimacy

God invites us into a deep and sacred intimacy with Him, where knowing and loving Him surpasses all else, as seen in David’s singular desire for God in Psalm 27:4. This pursuit of God requires a heart wholly devoted, where lesser desires fade in the fire of passion and thirst for Him, leading to a life fully aligned with His purpose. True rest is found in Jesus, the fulfillment of all longing, as we seek Him with unwavering focus, trusting Him completely and allowing His love to transform us.

Deeper Intimacy

There is a love so deep, a closeness so profound, that God is inviting us into—a sacred romance with Him that we have yet to fully embrace.

Deep calls unto deep, and Jesus Himself is drawing us ever nearer, longing for us to step into the depths of His heart. From this intimacy will flow new dimensions of fruitfulness, but none greater than the sheer joy of knowing Him more intimately.

God is awakening a people who love Him beyond their very breath, whose greatest longing is to be lost in Him. This is the cry of those who hunger and thirst, who yearn and linger, who abide and dwell—not out of duty, but out of an unquenchable desire to be near Him.

This sacred communion is birthed in the Secret Place—not merely a room where we withdraw for a moment, but the very depths of our souls where we ache for His presence. It is here, in the stillness of surrender, that He comes—to heal, to purify, to fill every part of us until we are utterly consumed by Him. Until we become living epistles, reflections of the Word that was from the very beginning.

We do not merely seek a passing encounter; we long to be wholly inhabited, to carry the fullness of Jesus within us.

Through these writings, we will journey through Psalm 27, exploring why this deeper intimacy is the very desire of God’s heart for our generation—and how we can step into the breathtaking reality of His dream for us.

In the Beginning

One Thing - Priortizing Jesus

In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.  In Him was life and that life was the light of men.  The light shines in the darkness and the darkness could not overcome it. John 1:1

Jesus said, “I am the Beginning and the End”, He is the First and the Last. Rev 22:13

As we come into alignment with God’s plan and order we step into divine alignment where we were created and created to be.  This alignment is our purpose but will also fulfill our purpose.  The Word is the Beginning.

This One thing….

As we start to delve into Psalms 27:4, David says there is only one thing he has desired of the Lord.  In the verses leading up he has enemies who have come to take his life.  He doesn’t defend himself or cry out for deliverance.  He simply asks Gods to be with Him.  The enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy, however He is disarmed if there is nothing He can steal, kill or destroy.  David only wants God and that can’t be stolen from him or destroyed.  In fact, He loves God more than His own life and therefore he cant’t be killed because the thing He values more than His life can’t be killed.  Rev 11:12 says that we overcome the enemy because we love not our own lives unto death (and by the Blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony)

He never desired the crown or victories or the earthly Kingdoms or even the Messianic inheritance.  He desired God.

We know that with God comes blessings, and the heart can be deceitfully wicked.  David said he didn’t even desire the blessings.  He didn’t just prioritize God and make Him First, He also made Him Last.  God was the Only thing David desired.  In the Light of God, all else fades away.  There is nothing that could ever compare to His matchlessness.

Is God your First?

Is Jesus your First and Last?  The Only thing you have desired?

This is a choice we make but He gracefully gives us the New Heart to be able to fulfill this dream.

Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ Phil 3:8

Pray – God we give you our heart and life completely.  We are yours.  We want you more than our next breath.  We trust you.  Make us more like Jesus.

Desires Flame

Passion & Thirst

This One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek… Ps 27:4a

Hungering and thirsting are faculties of the desire realm of the soul.  To long for Jesus like a lovesick maiden longing for the company of her groom (Sol 3:1-4).  There is something about us where we like to be desired and respected.  That is because we are made in God’s image.  He enjoys being desired.  He draws near to those who draw near Him.

It’s in the fire of desire that other lovers burn away and fizzle.  The lesser temporal loves that lead us into the zones of distraction and fruitfulness wither and die as our heart longs for the only love that can truly satisfy.  This desire is at the root of bearing eternal fruit as its pruning off fruitlessness and weeding out worries and deciets through keeping the main thing at the forefront.

That will I seek

Seeking God is discussed further in the “Seek My Face” section, but we want highlight at this point is the One thing is where David’s passion and focus was.  Because Jesus was his One thing and Only thing, he worked hard and was intentional and focused on Him.

Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest Heb 4:11

He was working to enter the rest.  The faith rest or sabbath rest promised to those who will Hear His voice in Hebrews 4

There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. Heb 4:9-10

Jesus is the rest, He is the Promised Land and hardened hearts of unbelief stop us entering in.  But this faith is what we contend for.  Jesus wants more of our heart, and to have hearts after Himself, so we work hard to go deeper, to walk closer and to know Him more intimately, whilst keeping ourselves from unbelief around the entering.

There is something about the fire of passion and zeal that burns in those who have had a revelation about how much God loves them.  It leaves them burning with more.  With a purified faith from the impurities that devalue us.

As the deer panteth for the water, so my souls longs after thee Ps 42:1
