“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. Jn 14:12-14

“And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. Jn 16:23-24

Three time Jesus informs us that whatever we ask in His Name, will be done.  The name that He refers to in this passage is the Son.  Abraham knew God as El Shaddai (almight), Moses knew God as Yahweh. Ultimately Jesus reveals Him as Father, Abba.

A son carries the authority of the Father.  No Father can deny the son, nor son their father.  This is the strangest relationship.  Jesus comes to Earth and reveals Himself as Creator in His Creation.  All of the universe and existence began and is held together in Him – the Word.

Whatever you ask in My name that I will do

This Word – Life – Light is the fabric of the universe and existence, but its not just a string/particle/quantum field, it is a person, the Word has a Name.  Throughout the ages God revealed His Name from being Elohim > Yahweh > Yahshua.  The Lord’s Salvation – Jesus.

So what does “in His Name” (b’shem) do?  It leverages off the relationship the Father and Son have, they are family, but they are One.  Asking in His Name also leverages the authority.  The same authority that was used to generate the universe and all of existence itself is now given to us as we are invited into this Oneness with the Creator

It tells us that using His Name would invoke the same authority That created the universe.  Not only will this authority conform the Universe to do what we ask, but the Creator Himself will do it, so that our Father may be glorified.  This is not something that we should esteem lightly like its an optional package to becoming a Christian.  Jesus gave his blood and suffered death on a cross to bring us into this place.  We do not want to be Esau that flippantly regarded the inheritance.  This was costly and should be treated with all reverence and respect; approached with the Fear of the Lord.

God is glorified when your prayers are answered.  Anything you ask God will do, because this is how He is glorified, through the joy that arises from your answered prayers.  This is what Jesus is telling us.  All of creation reveals the glory of God and here Jesus tells us here one way that takes place, as the All Existing One brings into existence that which you asked for in His Name.  The One who was and is and is to come brings into being that which you ask for.

In the Beginning was the Word

So then why don’t our prayers get answered?  We have all experienced a time when we asked for something and it didn’t happen.  The only answer I can find in the scriptures for that is YET. Some people may argue that things can block our prayers; forgiveness, sin, the devil.  My response is still - yet.  If things are highlighted in the wait, then quickly repent and keep believing.  God is faithful and will do all that we ask for or He is a liar.  And we know that He is not a man that He can lie.  This means that because HE said it, it will happen.  It cant’ not happen.  By the very definition of Creator, whatever He says happens, He speaks it into existence if it’s not already in existence.  If what He said didn’t happen then He wouldn’t be the Creator and He wouldn’t exist, which means nor would we.  This is why He says that all of Heaven and Earth will pass away before one jot or tittle of His word.

Therefore the fact that you exist is proof that He spoke and that whatever you ask for, with that same authority that formed the Creation (His Name) will also happen, or you would cease to exist.

How things are created, He speaks them into existence
